Which AI platforms does RefAnchor support?

RefAnchor works on any web page — including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude.ai, and other AI chat interfaces. If AI-generated text contains links or citations, RefAnchor can extract and verify them.

How does RefAnchor find the relevant passage in a source?

RefAnchor uses a combination of BM25 keyword search and embedding-based semantic search to locate the specific passage a cited source was likely referring to.

How are credits counted?

Credits are deducted per URL successfully processed: 1 credit for Basic search, 3 credits for Deep Verify. URLs that fail to load, are on your blacklist, or are filtered by date rules are not charged.

Does RefAnchor store my data?

RefAnchor sends selected text and cited URLs to our service to retrieve and verify sources. Signed-in users can have search text, references, and results saved in search history; anonymous searches are not saved to an account history. See the privacy policy for full details.

What is Deep Verify?

Deep Verify adds an LLM-as-judge step on top of semantic search. It evaluates whether the source actually supports the claim — not just whether it contains similar text.

Do unused credits roll over?

Monthly credits reset each billing period and do not roll over. Permanent credits from signup (40) and first-subscription bonus (60) never expire.

What's the difference between Starter and Plus?

Nothing except credits — both plans unlock all the same features. Starter gives 500 credits/month for $9/month, Plus gives 1200 credits/month for $18/month.

Why does RefAnchor sometimes open source pages in the background?

Some publishers block server-side crawlers or require normal browser rendering. When Source Assist is enabled, RefAnchor may briefly open a source page in an inactive tab, extract the article text, then close the tab. This can add a few seconds, but helps recover more sources. Credits are only charged for URLs that are successfully processed.
